GDPR for Phone Checker and Email Checker Extensions

.

We've taken all reasonable steps to ensure that as a data processor CRMOZ is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). That means as the email (phone) verification service, we keep the data you process with us fully secure.

Now, let's dive into the details.

What is GDPR

The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a regulation in the law of the European Union (EU) that is meant to protect the privacy of EU citizens.

Objectives of GDPR

The GDPR was brought into force with two objectives: to get the control of personal data back in the hands of the people, and to simplify and streamline various data protection regulations prevalent in the various countries of the EU.

Effective date

The GDPR is effective from May 25th, 2018.

Whom does it apply to

Any organization that processes personal data of EU citizens is required to comply with the GDPR, location of the organization notwithstanding.

Key terms defined in the GDPR

The GDPR defines, among other things, three key terms:

Data Controller

Data Controller is a natural or legal entity that determines the purpose and means of processing of personal data.

Data Processor

Data Processor means a natural or legal entity that processes personal data on behalf of the Data Controller.

Data Subject

A Data Subject is any person whose personal data is being collected, stored or processed.

CRMOZ is both a Data Controller in our role with our own customers, and a Data Processor in our role to help our customers process their customer data (End User Data).

CRMOZ's GDPR compliance

CRMOZ is fully committed to remain GDPR compliant. To ensure compliance in our role as Data Controller and Data Processor, we have reviewed our internal practices and policies and updated and modified them wherever necessary. The following overview of several important things describes how we have ensured the compliance.

Data Processing Addendum

CRMOZ offers a Data Processing Addendum (DPA) for our customers collecting personal data from data subjects in the EU. The DPA covers the contractual terms that meet the GDPR requirements. If you would require to have a copy of the DPA about our role as a Data Processor, please write to us at [email protected].

How we process your data

Email addresses and phone numbers are the only data we process on your behalf. Our role in processing your data is limited to the extent of providing you our email (phone) verification services: “Email Checker for Zoho CRM Extension” and “Phone Checker for Zoho CRM Extension”.

When you install  “Email Checker for Zoho CRM Extension” or/and “Phone Checker for Zoho CRM Extension” in your Zoho CRM system for verification, our role is that of a Data Processor. As your Data Processor, we 'process' the email (phones) addresses personal data that you provide to us and return the verification result to you.

This is how it works:

Our proprietary software is uploading the list of email addresses and phone numbers from Zoho CRM that were added or modified for the last 10 minutes.

Our proprietary software processes each and every email address (phone number) by subjecting it to a series of tests.

At the end of processing, our software reports the results back to Zoho CRM. It tells you which email addresses (phone numbers) are valid, which are invalid, which are unverifiable and so on.

That's it.

Your email (phone) lists are accepted and returned through secure connections. While processing, your email (phone) addresses are stored in secure servers.

Storing and auto-deleting your data

After processing your email (phone) lists, the lists will be automatically and permanently removed.

Data Subject rights in our role as Data Controller

At CRMOZ, we process your data for the limited and specific purpose of providing email (phone) verification services. Customers of CRMOZ can update, retrieve and remove their personal data by request to the email [email protected].

We are here to help you

At CRMOZ, we take data privacy very seriously. That's why we strongly believe the GDPR is a positive initiative to protect the rights of data subjects. Should you have any questions regarding the GDPR or data privacy, feel free to email us at [email protected].
